Ministerial Committee on Standardization Affairs Approves Gulf Accreditation Center’s Strategic Plan for 2027–2031

Manama – October 6, 2026

The Ministerial Committee on Standardization Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its 12th meeting today in Manama, Bahrain. Attended by ministers and officials responsible for standardization across GCC states, the meeting addressed several strategic topics aimed at developing the Gulf standardization and accreditation system and enhancing its efficiency and competitiveness.

Discussions focused on matters concerning the Gulf Accreditation Center, most notably the approval of the Center’s strategic plan for 2027–2031. This plan serves as a future framework to advance the Center’s progress, develop accreditation services, elevate institutional and technical performance, and strengthen its regional and international presence and standing.

The Committee also reviewed the Gulf Accreditation Center’s final accounts for 2025, alongside various topics and reports related to the Center’s operations and development trajectory.

These decisions reflect the ongoing support the Gulf Accreditation Center receives from the Committee members and the GCC states’ commitment to enabling the Center to fulfill its pivotal role in supporting and developing the Gulf accreditation system. This role contributes to bolstering confidence in conformity assessment results—including testing, inspection, and certification—and supports trade and economic integration among GCC states. The Gulf Accreditation Center continues its efforts to establish an efficient and reliable Gulf accreditation system that aligns with international best practices and standards, while enhancing the presence of GCC countries within the global quality and accreditation framework.
